“Schools Peacebuilding Project for Sierra Leone” A Project Implemented In Bombali District, Northern Region, Bo, Southern Region, and Freetown, Western Area.

Sierra Leone is still struggling to emerge from the immediate post-war period into one
characterized by sustainable democracy, peace, respect for human rights and
development. Amidst great strides of the economy responding to the return of peace; the
resettlement of large number of displaced persons and ex-combatants, a high capita
external aid flow; the post war reconstruction of basic infrastructure and beginning of a

PEACEBUILDING IN SIERRA LEONE
In 2003, Open Society for West Africa (OSIWA) supported, Green Scenery’s conflict resolution and
peacebuilding initiative. The project targeted sec- ondary school children in Freetown and Bo. In 2004, CORDAID Netherlands extended its support for the programme for one year. The project ended in September, 2005.

Ecosystems and Human Well-Being MID-TERM REVIEW

IUCN NL implements the Ecosystem and Human Well-Being Programme (EHWB) with funding from
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the MFS window for the period 2007-2010. The programme
addresses the linkages between ecosystem degradation and poverty and aims at the sustainable use
and conservation of ecosystems for the benefit of present and future generations in the global South.
The core of EHWB is EGP, a grants scheme that supports civil society organisations in DAC countries.
