PEACEBUILDING IN SIERRA LEONE
In 2003, Open Society for West Africa (OSIWA) supported, Green Scenery’s conflict resolution and
peacebuilding initiative. The project targeted sec- ondary school children in Freetown and Bo. In 2004, CORDAID Netherlands extended its support for the programme for one year. The project ended in September, 2005.

Ecosystems and Human Well-Being MID-TERM REVIEW

IUCN NL implements the Ecosystem and Human Well-Being Programme (EHWB) with funding from
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the MFS window for the period 2007-2010. The programme
addresses the linkages between ecosystem degradation and poverty and aims at the sustainable use
and conservation of ecosystems for the benefit of present and future generations in the global South.
The core of EHWB is EGP, a grants scheme that supports civil society organisations in DAC countries.

Green Scenery Assessment of Gbongokama Community Forest, Community Awareness raising and Public Education on Role of Forests - A Quick Impact Project

This project was supported by the IUCN NL and it seeks to assess the Gbongokama Community Forest, 
educate and raise awareness of the communities on role of forest.  To achieve this, the project is to be
implemented in three interlocking components and one of these components positioned in it a participatory
rural appraisal on the issues of livelihood. This assessment report is therefore the outcome of the PRA. It has
been titled “Participatory Rural Livelihood Assessment because it primarily looked at the livelihoods of
Gbongokama community. 

NATIONAL CONFERENCE OF PARAMOUNT CHIEFS ON LAND AND THE CONSTITUTION

The National Conference of Paramount Chiefs on the theme: “Our land…Our Constitution…Our country” 
is the fourth of its kind organized in Sierra Leone by local actors and their international partners to
discuss contemporary issues relating to natural resources management especially land in the face of the
current influx of multi-national companies engaged in Foreign Direct Investments involving land. 
The one day conference was organized by national non-governmental organizations – Green Scenery,

1. INTRODUCTION
This biannual report highlights the various projects within our Environment and Human
Security (EnHuS) programme implemented by Green Scenery in the years 2013 and 2014.
The report will give synopsis of the interventions and presents their challenges. The
report will also dwell on administrative activities accomplished within the period.
 
The period 2013 and 2014 presented opportunities for Green Scenery to implement the
