Green Scenery and Its Partners Provides Capacity Building Training for Project Participants in agroecology.

Pujehun Sierra Leone : From Monday April 22th to Friday 26th, a very important component of a Green Scenery agro ecology project was accomplished. The five(5) days were spent on training in agro ecology for Green Scenery staff and selected project participants coming from nine  villages in Kpaka Chiefdom  Pujehun district, Sierra Leone.

The project, which is funded by CAFOD, is targeting 270 smallholder farmers and will last for a 2-years pilot phase and Green Scenery is the implementing organization.

The training partner for the agro ecology is Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa (AFSA) with HQ in Uganda and the training facilitator was Ferdinand Wafula, a Kenyan.

The training constituted two parts, the first involved the staff of Green Scenery, RACAP,CAFOD and CARITAS, comprising lots of theory and it took place in Pujehun Town. The second part took place in the farmer field school of Sahun village about 12miles off Pujehun town. The training in the village constituted largely practical sessions such as permaculture, soil nutrient debt repayment, etc. and it involved both staff and eighteen (18) participants who will serve as trainers in their respective villages.

In another development, immediately after the training, the project participants were presented with their inputs and planting materials.
