Green Scenery and Its Partners Provides Capacity Building Training for Project Participants in agroecology.

Pujehun Sierra Leone: From Monday, April 22nd to Friday 26th, an essential component of a Green Scenery Agroecology project was accomplished. Five (5) days were spent on training in Agroecology for Green Scenery staff and selected project participants from nine villages in Kpaka Chiefdom  Pujehun district, Sierra Leone.

The project, which CAFOD funds, is targeting 270 smallholder farmers and will last for a 2-year pilot phase and Green Scenery is the implementing organization. The training partner for the agroecology is Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa (AFSA) with HQ in Uganda and the training facilitator was Ferdinand Wafula, a Kenyan.

The training constituted two parts, the first involved the staff of Green Scenery, RACAP, CAFOD and CARITAS, comprising lots of theories and it took place in Pujehun Town. The second part took place in the farmer field school of Sahun village about 12 miles off Pujehun town. The training in the village constituted largely practical sessions such as permaculture, soil nutrient debt repayment, etc. and it involved both staff and eighteen (18) participants who will serve as trainers in their respective villages.

In another development, immediately after the training, the project participants were presented with their inputs and planting materials.
